Is the Florida Learner's Permit Exam included with every course?+

No. The permit exam is only included with the DETS + Learner's Permit Bundle. If you purchase the DETS course by itself, you'll need to purchase the permit exam separately.

What happens after I pass the permit exam?+

Visit a Florida DMV or Tax Collector office with your required documents to receive your learner's permit. The licensing fee is $54.25, plus a $2.50 card fee.

If you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present. If they cannot attend, bring a completed and notarized Parental Consent Form (HSMV 71142).

How many questions are on the Florida Learner's Permit Exam?+

The Florida Learner's Permit Exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions covering traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices. You must answer at least 40 questions correctly (80%), meaning you can miss no more than 10 questions to pass.

Can I use my phone or tablet to take the course?+

Will I receive a completion certificate?+

Can adults take the Florida permit exam online?+

No. Adults 18 and older cannot take the Florida permit exam online. However, you must first complete the 4-hour Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course online before taking the permit exam in person at a Florida DMV or Tax Collector office.

What is the Florida BDI course?+

Traffic school for eligible drivers who need to dismiss a traffic ticket, satisfy a court order, avoid points, or qualify for an insurance discount. Commercial Driver License (CDL) holders are not eligible to use this course for ticket dismissal, regardless of the type of vehicle they were driving at the time of the violation.
